Abstract
In this study we analyzed 5q- breakpoints in a large group of patients with MDS and AML. Remarkably we found that 5q- sizes were strongly related to karyotype complexity as largest deletions involving both NPM1 gene (5q35.1) and RP11-80K5 (5q14.1) clone never occurred in isolated 5q- which showed the smallest genomic losses in virtually all cases.
